Follow the Whispers of Your Heart: 5 Sacred Steps to Bring Your Dreams to Life

Follow the Whispers of Your Heart: 5 Sacred Steps to Bring Your Dreams to Life

As I sit down with our new Belize Cacao, I want to share something with you today...

I finished reading a book this weekend that I had read a long time ago called "The Alchemist", by Paulo Coelho.

It had so many golden nuggets dispersed in the story, so many metaphors, so many pauses to reflect on and contemplate. It's basically a novel that reminds you to listen to your heart, your calling, your dreams, and to move towards them.

So many of us don't. We hear the whispers, the ideas, and we have the visions of the things we'd like to create, the impact we'd like to have, and what we'd like to build, however when we don't listen to our heart for fear of failure or change, the whispers, the signs, the guidance become quieter and quieter until we can't hear them anymore.

If the heart is not going to be listened to, the heart will retreat. Our inner voice will become silent, and we'll stop noticing all the signs around us, pointing us in the right direction.

It's a book of inspiration, to show us what happens when we dare to go after what we want, and what happens when we don't.

If you're interested in checking it out, it's a beautiful, easy, short read. With that said, I hope you give yourself time each day to listen to your heart, to listen to the voice inside, and to have the courage to take one small step forward in fulfilling that which is calling out your name.

Change is scary, but you know what's even scarier? Not changing, not growing, not experiencing, and not living out the experiences which your heart is begging for.

If the whispers and the guidance have become quiet, give yourself uninterrupted time in a day to reflect.

Take out a journal, make some cacao, sit with Hapé, a cup of tea, whatever helps you tap in, and start jotting down all the ideas, all the things that sit in your heart, that you'd actually like to create, build and experience, without judgement, and without knowing how you're going to achieve them.

This is the starting point, understanding what calls your name is the first step, and writing it down.

Then proceed through these steps to bring your dreams to life.

1. Listen to Your Inner Voice

Your heart already knows what lights you up — but sometimes we’re too busy to hear it. Take time to get quiet. Journal, with Hapé, a cup of tea, or simply go for a long walk without distractions.

Example: Maybe you’ve always felt alive when painting, and you’ve always wanted to sell your art online, but you pushed it aside because you didn’t think you were good enough, or you were scared of failing. Listening to your heart might reveal it's time to explore that passion again.

2. Set a Clear, Heart-Led Goal

Dreams feel magical, but goals make them tangible. Define what you want in clear, inspiring terms.

Example: Instead of saying, “I want to be an artist” set a goal like “I will open an online art shop by the end of the year”

3. Learn from Those Who Have Walked the Path
You don’t have to figure everything out alone. Study people who have done what you dream of doing — let their journeys inspire and guide you.

Example: Read interviews with successful artists, take an online course, or research how other artists have opened an online store on YouTube, and how to get started.

4. Break It Into Small, Loving Actions
Big dreams can be intimidating and may leave you feeling really overwhelmed. Shrink them down into tiny steps that feel manageable and exciting.

Example: First step: Buy canvases. Second step: Spend 20 minutes a day drawing. Third step: Post one piece online every Friday. Fourth Step: When I have 10 pieces start an Etsy Account. Fifth Step: Upload art to Etsy. Sixth Step: Buy shipping materials for art. Seventh Step: Learn marketing, and implement marketing strategy.

4. Embrace Growth, Not Perfection

Moving toward your dreams is a journey, not a performance. Expect detours and mistakes — they are signs you’re growing. We are never promised the destination, but we are promised the journey, so make sure it’s a journey that inspires you, that feeds your soul.

Example: If your first online art sale doesn’t go as planned, celebrate the fact that you launched and learned, instead of focusing on the numbers.

5. Surround Yourself with Inspiration and Support

Energy is contagious. Stay close to people, places, and stories that keep your heart lit up.

Example: Join a local artist group, listen to podcasts about creative entrepreneurs, or keep a vision board where you can see it every day.

And most importantly, celebrate all your small wins!
Celebrate all the wins! If you can't celebrate the small wins, you're unlikely to celebrate the big ones. Celebrate uploading your first product to Etsy! Celebrate your first painting! Celebrate that first sale, and in fact, every sale that comes after that!

Focusing on your goal for 5 minutes a day is better than 0 minutes. So just because you don’t have that hour to spare today, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it all. A few minutes a day focused on your goals and dreams gets you in a state of motion and flow.

Remember, the dreams within your heart were planted there with purpose. They are not random; they are sacred invitations from your soul. Every step you take — no matter how small — sends a ripple of faith into the universe, calling your dreams closer to you. Trust yourself. Trust the timing. And above all, move forward with love, knowing that you are co-creating a life more beautiful than you can even imagine. The journey is yours to walk, and the magic is already unfolding. 💜
